About NC Contractor Academy

We Build Tomorrow thru Education

NCLBGC Board-approved continuing education and exam prep, built for North Carolina's working general contractors.

Education That Earns Its Keep

Our Mission

Education That Earns Its Keep

NC Contractor Academy was founded on a straightforward conviction: continuing education and exam prep should make North Carolina’s general contractors better at running their businesses — not simply check a box for the licensing board.

The Academy is led by founder and lead instructor Malcolm Boney, who spent 27 years as a working general contractor — managing multimillion-dollar commercial and residential projects — before bringing that field experience into the classroom. For more than a decade, he has prepared North Carolina contractors to pass the NASCLA, NC Building, and NC Residential licensing exams and to complete their annual continuing-education requirements.

Today, NC Contractor Academy is an NCLBGC Board-approved continuing-education provider built specifically for North Carolina. Every course is taught against current North Carolina statutes, Board policy, and exam standards — not generic, out-of-state material — by instructors who have actually run construction businesses.

From NASCLA and NC Building and Residential exam prep to the full 8-hour annual CE requirement, our curriculum is practical, current, and built around the realities of the job site and the back office. Whether you are preparing for your first license or renewing an existing one, the goal is the same: education that earns its keep.
